This week’s meeting will have a sports theme. We’ll talk about some trademark past-times in Japan and the U.S. (Sumo, Kendo; Baseball, Hockey). After the meeting, we’d also like to show a movie related to hockey, which will be in preparation for the WMU vs. Michigan State game the following day (Saturday, February 16th @ 4:35pm). Come on, Japan Club members, let’s all go to the game together and experience Bronco Hockey!

Newsletter Growth (Part 2)

This week will be a return the old format as I try to gather people to work on the new newsletter. If you didn’t see the rough draft of the new format, please look at last week’s newsletter on the blog: http://wmujc.wordpress.com/2008/02/04/japan-club-weekly-no-8/

So far, four people have signed up to help with the newsletter, but I think I would like to see a few more. Remember, I need both artists and writers. And I need people to write in ENGLISH AND JAPANESE, so JAPANESE MEMBERS, please sign up if you can. I’d love to add some Japanese language articles. If you’re not sure what kinds of articles I’m looking for, please ask me.

This Friday, I will bring the sign-up sheet again. In the meantime, if you want to be a part of this, please feel free to email me.

Conversation Partner Program:

Cancellation

Unfortunately, I was unable to find enough Japanese volunteers to make this program work. I will no longer be recruiting volunteers, and I apologize to those of you who have already volunteered. Another member who has expressed a strong interest in seeing this system develop may try again to make it work. But for now, I have decided to discontinue efforts to establish a conversation partner program.
