WMU JAPAN CLUB

Weekly Newsletter JC 17 Oct. 2008 ~★

Posted by: wmujc on: October 16, 2008

Hello Japan Club!!

Here are just a few announcements!

****This Friday’s JAPAN CLUB is going to be a must-do!!

We will be going over the “Otsukimi” (looking at the moon) and Japanese seasons, as well as learning all about the American tradition of pumpkin carving.

Following this will be pumpkin carving for everyone!! It will be a lot of fun and very messy so make sure you’re there!!

***Upcoming Events***

–Japan Festival–
We are currently looking for volunteers to help out with Japan Festival (November 17th). There are three teams being formed to prepare for the festival: Kitchen (food), Booth (info/entertainment), and Stage (live entertainment). Please contact Yuuya Masada if you would like to be apart of this. We want 30 people to help make this a success, and we would like 3 – 5 leaders.

–Pasona “Career Day”–
On October 27th (sunday) a Japanese company called Pasona is hosting a Career Day where there will be a presentation in Japanese to help prepare college students for job interviews after graduation. They will go over dress codes, things to prepare for, and more information.

The dress code is casual.

This will be beneficial not only for Japanese students but also American students who 1) want a job in Japan someday, 2) are studying Japanese currently and want to improve their listening comprehension skills, and 3) planning to study abroad to Japan next year for it will prepare them for general lectures in the Japanese language.

–IPC Halloween Dance–
November 1st will be the International Programs Council’s Annual Halloween Dance. This is an opportunity for everyone to dress up in their best Halloween costume and win the costume contest, have free food, and have a good time! :) Make sure to bring your Western ID, and you should be all set.

THAT’S ALL!! Remember to mark your calendars!!
